Baron Philippe de Rothschild began the tradition of illustrating wine labels to celebrate the end of World War Two in 1945. Since then many famous painters including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol and Francis Bacon, have been commissioned to illustrate the labels of vintage wines from Chateau Mouton Rothschild. By emulating this tradition, Custom Wines has developed this concept to create a new medium to print contemporary artwork and promote the work of talented artists.
